Gardner Ridge Backsplash
For many years I lived in Lyman, NH, and just up the road was a lovely couple from PA who owned a house in which the kitchen windows looked west to the Gardner Ridge which is between Lyman and Monroe. I called them my summer neighbors, as they came in May and stayed until October, and I often stopped by to visit with them. They asked me to design a backsplash for their kitchen renovation, and I proposed something I'd wanted to do for a long time - a design representing the changing seasons they would see from their windows. Using the techniques I'd learned in a glass painting workshop with Albinus Elskus, I painted each of the 9 tiles on fusible glass. These were the result, now being enjoyed by the couple's daughter and her family. 2000
