Plata Perdido
Some time in the early 2000s I began exploring fused glass, and this was one of my earlier ones. There is quite a learning curve with fused glass, and proper annealing is part of that learning. The plate seen here did not start out like this; it broke apart in the kiln, leaving me with eleven broken pieces that couldn't be simply glued back together. So I took a page from the Japanese kintsugi process, and refired it with black frit filling in the cracks. I named it Plata Perdido - lost plate in Spanish. Someone saw it in a store where it was displayed and bought it!
